Frequently Asked Questions
Interested in our charitable status, want to donate the old fashioned way, or curious how we spend your money?
1/ Is Digital Rights Ireland a charity?
No. In Ireland, charities aren’t allowed to take part in political activity. We are a non-profit company limited by guarantee – which means that we cannot distribute any funds to our members. As a registered company we are obliged to file annual audited accounts. Our company number is 410355 should you wish to look us up in the Companies Registration Office.
2/ I don’t like these payment options. Can I donate using EFT?
Of course. Our bank account is with Bank of Ireland:
IBAN: IE25 BOFI 9013 5128 3585 73
If you send us funds electronically please send us an email so we know who to thank.
3/ How are donations to DRI spent?
In 2014, DRI’s operating budget was €53,723.00. For every €1 donated, it breaks down like this:
Legal challenges, issue education, and public campaigning.
DRI is run by volunteers and has no paid directors or paid staff.
We spent just under 1 cent to raise each €1 donated.
We hope you’ll think we’ve been efficient and transparent in how we spend the funds of donors, and hope you’ll consider making a donation to DRI. Thank you!
